Iridium Flare

Iridium Flare over Griffith Island, April 28, 2006. The streak of light in the upper middle of the photograph is an Iridium flare. This is caused by sunlight reflecting off of a satellite about 1,000 kilometres away. The bright star to the lower right of the flare is Alpha Persei. The photograph was taken about an hour before sunrise. This image was featured on the SkyNews website.
