northern lights

Aurora, October 8, 2013 no.1. While photographing an aurora from in front of my home in rural Ontario a car sped by on a nearby road. The 25 second exposure captured both events. The timelessness of nature's beauty is contrasted by the brief event of the car passing. Its tail lights mimic the colour of the upper atmosphere aurora, and its head lights illuminate some of the autumn leaves. The driver didn't slow down to enjoy the splendour in the sky. This photograph was taken at 8:47 p.m.

A photograph taken at 8:44 p.m. is available here.
